Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions Betting Preview
The Golden Lions’ year hasn’t exactly gone well. Arkansas Pine Bluff has yet to record consecutive wins, and there has been a long line of defeats otherwise. The Lions went 2-8 in their first 10 games with wins over only Champion Christian and Central Arkansas. Otherwise, it was losses to Cincinnati, Tulsa, South Florida, Incarnate Word, Texas Tech, Missouri, Pacific, and Kansas State. The next six games were a 1-5 stretch with a lone win over Ecclesia among losses to LA-Monroe, Texas, Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Prairie View A&M for a rough 3-13 stretch through their first 16 games this year.
In the Florida A&M game on Saturday, the Golden Lions suffered yet another loss. Arkansas Pine Bluff was drilled 49-28 in the first half but got better from there on a 48-37 second. The Lions still ended up losing 86-76, though. The only starter to finish in double-figures there was Doctor Bradley with 24 points, 12 boards, seven assists, and three steals. Dante Sawyer chipped in 12 points and three rebounds off the bench as well.
Bethune-Cookman Wildcats Betting Preview
Over on the Bethune-Cookman side, their year hasn’t gone a whole lot better. That said, the Wildcats have been playing better since mid-December or so. B-CU hit a 2-4 stretch through their first six games, beating only South Carolina State and North Dakota amid losses otherwise versus Texas Tech, Nebraska, Fort Wayne, and Tulane. A 1-6 stretch came after that with a win over South Florida among losses to Gardner-Webb, Minnesota, Virginia, West Virginia, Davidson, and Mississippi State. Bethune-Cookman managed wins over Florida A&M and Grambling in the next pair, then fell to Southern for a 5-11 start to the season.
Matched up against MS Valley State over the weekend, the Wildcats jumped out to a dominant 42-21 edge by the break. Bethune-Cookman kept the pressure up in the second half, hitting a 41-37 run for an eventual win 83-58. Leading the scoring was Trey Thomas with 22 points, three boards and two assists. Daniel Rouzan added 13 points with five rebounds, and Gianni Hunt came off the bench for 11 points, four boards, and four assists in 23 minutes.
Why the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will win

- Bethune-Cookman has won each of its last six games at Moore Gymnasium.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff has lost the first half in 10 of its last 12 road games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff vs Bethune-Cookman Prediction
I’ll stick with Bethune-Cookman. The Wildcats didn’t have too many issues versus a two-win Mississippi Valley State team in their last outing. B-CU hit 55.6 percent from the field with a 33-31 rebounding edge and 18 points off 15 Delta Devils turnovers. It was a nice performance versus a struggling squad and gives Bethune-Cookman three wins in their last four games. The Wildcats hadn’t cracked 65 points in any of their previous three games either, so the 83-point total was a welcome sign—even if it was against a bad team.
As for AR-Pine Bluff, it’s been a rough run over this four-game losing streak. The Lions have given up 75 or more points in all four of those, with 86 or more in three of them. If Bethune-Cookman can get the offense going quickly here, I like the Wildcats to power out the cover without too much difficulty.
