Alcorn State vs Ole Miss Prediction
I’ll stick with Ole Miss but it’s a pretty thick line so I’m probably not messing with it. The Rebels will have to develop some early chemistry in order to face the gauntlet of the conference schedule, but there are a few interesting names on the roster as incoming transfers. Adam Clark posted 12.7 PPG at Seton Hall and should slot into a major part of the game plan immediately. If the team can recapture the momentum of that SEC Tournament run, they’ll be well on their way to a winning record.
As for Alcorn State, this season will be the first true test of Morton’s vision for the team, as he got something of a late start last year. The Braves have a few nice options at point guard along with fifth-year player Trey Thomas (11.8 PPG in four games at Southern Indiana). The bad news is that there are some truly tough road games on the schedule, so we’ll be able to see what the Braves are made of.

The 2025-26 season wasn’t very kind to Alcorn State. The Braves limped to a 9-23 overall record and went just 7-11 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Ole Miss caught fire in the conference tournament with wins over Texas, Georgia and Alabama before finally falling to Arkansas in OT.
This year Ole Miss will have head coach Chris Beard back for his fourth season. He’ll preside over a roster that retains two starters, which isn’t too bad nowadays for continuity. Patton Pinkins and Ilias Kamardine are two of the returning trio this year, along with sophomore Zach Day.
