Over on the Baylor side, they won their first four games versus UT Rio Grande Valley, Washington, Tarleton State and Creighton. Since then it’s been a 3-2 run for the Bears. The wins in that time have come versus San Diego State, Sac State and Norfolk State. The losses otherwise were against St. John’s and Memphis. That gives the Bears a 7-2 record across nine games so far.
In the Norfolk State game last Wednesday, the Bears went into the second half with a 47-31 edge. Baylor hit a 50-36 run from there on the way to a 97-67 win. Cameron Carr was tops on 19 points with five rebounds and Obi Agbim added 18 points with five assists and four boards. Tounde Yessoufou had 17 points with four rebounds and two assists in the win.

I’ll stick with Baylor but I’m probably not touching this one due to the thick line. The Bears rolled right past a struggling Norfolk State team in their last outing, hitting 52.9 percent from the field, 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the line, 39 rebounds and 23 team assists. That gives the Bears 71 or more points in every game so far this year, and 91 or more in three of the last four (all three were wins).
As for Alcorn State, they weren’t going to do much against a great Iowa State team in their last game—and they didn’t. The Braves shot well (48.2 percent) but also gave up a whopping 70.8 percent from the field and 22-of-30 (73.3 percent) from 3-point range on the other side—not to mention the 29-15 rebounding deficit. The Braves are in for another tricky matchup here, and I don’t think they’ll get anywhere close.
