Alabama A&M Bulldogs Betting Preview

The Bulldogs started out the year on a pretty good clip through their first quartet of outings. Alabama A&M’s opener was a victory over Blue Mountain by 20 points, then came the team’s first loss at Indiana in blowout fashion. Alabama A&M would win the next two games though, taking out Charleston Southern and Lindenwood to improve their record to 3-1 across the opening four games.

In Friday’s matchup versus Clemson, the Bulldogs got drilled 52-22 in the first half alone. Alabama A&M didn’t end up getting any closer on a 40-34 run from there and lost the game 92-56 in blowout fashion. PJ Eason (five rebounds), Kintavious Dozier (two rebounds) and James Graham (three rebounds) each had 10 points for the Bulldogs in the losing effort.

Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Betting Preview

Over on the Coastal Carolina side, they’ve been a bit shaky so far this season but have still managed to keep their heads above the .500 mark. The Chanticleers opened up the year on a 2-2 run with wins over Virginia-Lynchburg and Winthrop sandwiched between losses to Western Michigan and Jacksonville State. Since then it’s been a pair of wins over Western Illinois and North Dakota ahead of a loss to Illinois State. That gives the Chanticleers a 4-3 record across their first seven games so far.

Matched up against Illinois State last weekend, the Chanticleers came out of the break with a 55-20 deficit. Things didn’t get any better from there as Coastal Carolina finished off on a 39-22 run and took the loss 94-42. The only team player to finish in double-digits was Josh Beadle with 11 points, three rebounds and one assist. Tristan Thompson chipped in seven points with seven rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of work during the defeat.

Alabama A&M vs Coastal Carolina Prediction

I’ll lean toward Coastal Carolina I suppose. The Chanticleers really need to bounce back after an ugly loss to Illinois State last weekend, though. Coastal shot an abysmal 26.9 percent from the field and 10.7 percent (3-of-28) from 3-point range in that one and got out-rebounded 48-31. The 30-16 deficit on points in the paint didn’t help matters either, and Coastal Carolina could muster just four team assists in the blowout loss. That makes fewer than 68 points in two of the last four games for the Chanticleers, but they’ve scored well otherwise this year.

As for Alabama A&M, they got demolished by a good Clemson team in their last outing. The Bulldogs shot just 37 percent from the field with 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) from 3-point range and a 42-22 rebounding deficit. That said, Alabama A&M has done well outside of lopsided games against tough teams this year, so they could give the Chanticleers some trouble.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Coastal Carolina Chanticleers -6.5
