Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have had a wild season. Mississippi State was coming off a five-game win streak in late February, but then took four losses versus Kentucky, Auburn, Texas A&M and South Carolina to close the year. The Bulldogs bounced back with a tournament win over LSU on Thursday.
Mississippi State kept their run going in decisive fashion on Friday versus Tennessee. The Bulldogs stormed out to a 38-19 halftime edge, then finishes off on a 37-35 run for a 73-56 win. Leading team scorers Josh Hubbard and Cameron Matthews each had 18 points in the upset victory.

Auburn Tigers
Over on the Auburn side, they got off to a great 16-2 start this year. The Tigers would then hit a shaky 5-5 stretch over the next 10 games, though. Auburn was able to rally over the last three games of the regular season, posting consecutive wins over Mississippi State, Missouri and Georgia to finish things off.
On Friday versus South Carolina, the Tigers posted a pretty easy win. Auburn was up 46-26 by halftime and hit a 40-29 in the second for an 86-55 blowout result. Johni Broome doubled up on 18 points and 10 boards, while Chaney Johnson put up 11 points and three rebounds in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE MISSISSIPPI STATE VS AUBURN PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward jumping on the Mississippi State bandwagon. The Bulldogs put on a clinic in the first half of the Tennessee game, eventually shooting 55.3 percent from the field with 31 rebounds and 11 team assists. Mississippi State also held Tennessee to just 30.6 percent shooting on the other side. The only real blemish was the 15 turnovers for 13 Vols points.
The last time these teams met up on March 2, Auburn managed a 78-63 home victory. The Tigers got off to a quick start in that one and eventually shot 50 percent from the field. The Bulldogs had a pretty rough offensive outing there with 39.3 percent shooting and 12-of-20 (60 percent) from the line. Mississippi State’s brimming with confidence right now though, so I think they’ll be able to hang around in the tournament rematch.
Andrew’s Pick Mississippi State Bulldogs +8
