Howard Bison
The Bison started out the year on a rough 5-11 stretch, but they’ve only lost consecutive games once since then. Howard finished off the regular season with wins over Morgan State, Coppin State, MD-Eastern Shore and Delaware State before a loss to Norfolk State last week.
On Thursday versus Morgan State in the tournament rematch, the Bison held a 40-31 edge by halftime. Howard hit a 38-34 run the rest of the way and secured the win 78-65 in the end. Bryce Harris was the team’s leading scorer on 28 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Norfolk State Spartans
Over on the Spartans’ side, they were on shaky ground with a 10-8 record in early January. Norfolk State has gone a nice 12-2 since then, however. In the last eight, the Spartans have beaten South Carolina State, NC Central, Coppin State, Morgan State, MD-Eastern Shore, Howard and Coppin State.
Back on Wednesday in tournament activity versus Coppin State, the Spartans came out of the break with a 31-25 edge. Norfolk State got even better from there on a 44-26 run and took the blowout win 75-51 in the end. Christian Ings put up 17 points with two assists and two steals in the victory.
ANDREW’S FREE HOWARD VS NORFOLK STATE PREDICTION
I’ll likely stick with Norfolk State in this one. The Spartans took a pretty easy win over a struggling Coppin State team in their last game, hitting 47.1 percent from the field with a 36-25 rebounding edge. Norfolk State was a little sloppy with the ball though, coughing up 15 turnovers in the blowout. Still, that makes 68 or more points in eight straight games—a 7-1 run for the Spartans.
When these teams last met on March 7, Norfolk State pulled off a pretty easy home win 77-58. The Spartans got off to a bit of a slow start in that one but eventually shot 52.6 percent from the field with 34 rebounds. The 10-of-21 (47.6 percent) from the line was the only glaring blemish. So long as Norfolk State can avoid a pitfall like that I think they’ll be fine here.
Andrew’s Pick Norfolk State Spartans -1.5
