Alabama A&M Bulldogs
The Bulldogs got off to a rough 3-17 start over their first 20 games this year. The next six games were a solid 5-1 run, however. Following losses to Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M and Grambling in the next four games, Alabama A&M has since beaten Southern and Alcorn State.
On Wednesday in their tournament matchup versus Alcorn State, Alabama A&M went into the break with a 37-34 deficit. The Bulldogs posted a 41-26 run from there however, powering out the comeback win 75-63. Both Omari Peek and Lorenzo Downey scored a team-high 16 points in the victory.

Texas Southern Tigers
Over on the Texas Southern side, they stumbled to a 9-12 recored over their first 21 games this year. The Tigers have since won six of their last seven games, though. Those victories came versus Southern, MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff, Jackson State, Prairie View A&M and Jackson State again.
In Thursday’s tournament rematch versus Jackson State, the Tigers were able to pull off a fairly routine victory. After jumping out to a 46-27 halftime edge. Texas Southern cruised the rest of the way to a 73-62 victory. Lead scorer Jonathan Cisse put up 24 points with eight boards and six assists in the win.
ANDREW’S FREE ALABAMA A&M VS TEXAS SOUTHERN PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Texas Southern. The Tigers made short work of Jackson State in their last outing, hitting 46.2 percent from the field and holding the opposition to just 32.3 percent on the other side. The 14 turnovers and middling nine assists were just about the only weak spots.
As for Alabama A&M, they posted a nice second half in the Alcorn State game. The Bulldogs didn’t shoot very well though (41.1 percent) and had 13 turnovers for 15 Braves points. In the last meeting between these teams on January 27, the Tigers pulled off an 85-69 home victory. Texas Southern had a big rebounding advantage (41-28) in a sloppy game (29 total turnovers) there. The Tigers are playing well right now and should be in control for this tournament rematch if they can minimize the mistakes.
