The Ole Miss Rebels and the Texas A&M Aggies meet Thursday in SEC Tournament college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena. Let’s get into our Ole Miss vs. Texas A&M prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.

Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels lost only three of their first 21 games this year. Since then however, Ole Miss is just 2-8 over a 10-game stretch. In the last half-dozen outings it’s been a 1-5 run with a lone win over Missouri among losses to Mississippi State, South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia and Texas A&M.

Matched up against Texas A&M over the weekend, the Rebels were down 42-29 coming out of the break. UNLV didn’t make up any ground in the second half on a 44-31 stretch and lost 86-60 in blowout fashion. Leading scorer Jaylen Murray put up 21 points with three assists and three steals.

Texas A&M Aggies

Over on the Aggies’ side, they were sitting at 15-8 in early February following a solid 5-1 run. After consecutive losses to Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina in the next five, Texas A&M recovered with wins over Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

In the Ole Miss matchup, Texas A&M didn’t have a whole lot of difficulties powering out the victory. It was the Aggies’ highest points total (86) since scoring 97 in an overtime game versus Kentucky on January 13. Leading scorer Manny Obaseki posted 25 points with two assists in the win.

I’ll just stick with Texas A&M here. The Aggies need to be careful about overconfidence following a dominant win over the Rebels this past weekend, though. Texas A&M was great on both sides of the ball in that one, hitting 50 percent from the field with 39.3 percent allowed on the other side. The Aggies held a 50-21 rebounding edge (18-5 offensive) as well. The only real blemishes were the six missed free throws and 12 turnovers.

Texas A&M has kept their opponents below 70 points in three straight games (all wins) while scoring 70 or more themselves in all three. The home loss to Ole Miss 71-68 back on January 27 seems a distant memory now, so if the Aggies can maintain form I think they’ll be okay on a cover.
