The Oklahoma Sooners and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Wednesday in Big 12 Tournament college basketball action from Sprint Center. Let’s get into our Oklahoma vs. TCU prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners were sitting at 18-6 overall back on February 10, but they haven’t won consecutive games since then. Oklahoma is 2-5 in their last seven outings with losses to Baylor, Kansas, Iowa State, Houston and Texas. The wins were versus Oklahoma State and Cincinnati otherwise.
Matched up against Texas over the weekend, the Sooners were outscored 40-35 by halftime. Oklahoma didn’t get any closer on a 54-45 second half and ended up falling 94-80 in the end. Rivaldo Soares was the team’s leading scorer with his 21 points and two assists in 33 minutes.
TCU Horned Frogs
Over on the TCU side, they followed a similar path this year at 18-7 overall through 25 games. The Frogs haven’t won consecutive games through a 2-4 stretch since then. Those losses came versus Texas Tech, Baylor, BYU and UCF with wins over Cincinnati and West Virginia.
Back on Saturday versus UCF, the Frogs came out of the break with a 36-36 tie game. TCU was outscored 43-41 the rest of the way though and ended up falling 79-77. Jameer Nelson led the way on 15 points with four assists and four steals in 25 minutes during the defeat.
ANDREW’S FREE OKLAHOMA VS TCU PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward TCU. You could call this one either way, though. The Frogs didn’t play all that well versus UCF in their last game, shooting a tepid 42.1 percent from the field with a 34-32 rebounding deficit. TCU also went just 21-of-32 (65.6 percent) from the line, which isn’t going to cut it in tournament play.
As for Oklahoma, they’ve hit 80 or more points in two of the last three games (both losses) so they’re at least scoring well. The Sooners took an 80-71 road loss the last time these teams met up back on January 10 though, so they’ll need a clean performance here in order to get some revenge. This matchup seems like a coin flip; it’ll be a fun one to watch.
