The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Colgate Raiders meet Wednesday in Patriot League Tournament college basketball action from Cotterell Court. Let’s get into our Lehigh vs. Colgate prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Lehigh Mountain Hawks
The Mountain Hawks posted a pretty rough 7-15 run over their first 22 games of the year. Lehigh has found their rhythm on a 7-2 run over the last nine, though. The wins in that time came versus Lafayette (three times), Bucknell, Loyola MD, Army and Boston University.
Matched up against Boston U in their Sunday game, the Mountain Hawks came out on the winning end of a tight game. Lehigh came back from a 46-28 deficit to force overtime and eventually won 84-79. Cam Gillus was the top team scorer with 30 points and four rebounds in the victory.

Colgate Raiders
Over on the Raiders’ side, they were just 8-8 through their first 16 games. Colgate would then hit a 12-game win streak from mid-January to mid-February. After a loss to American, it’s been wins over Holy Cross, Lehigh, Holy Cross again and Bucknell in the last four games.
In the Bucknell game over the weekend, the Raiders were down 32-23 by the break. Colgate rallied in the second however and eventually posted a 68-65 win. Braeden Smith was the team’s leading scorer on 21 points with eight boards and two steals in 33 minutes of action.
ANDREW’S FREE LEHIGH VS COLGATE PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Lehigh here. The Mountain Hawks have been a scrappy team lately, even when they’re not playing well. That was the case in the Boston U game, as a rough first half led to a tepid 40 percent shooting number and a 37-36 rebounding deficit. Lehigh pulled off the win though, and it was their third game in the last four which was decided by five points or fewer.
One of those games was a 63-60 loss to Colgate on March 2. The Mountain Hawks shot a rough 40.7 percent in that one and lost the rebounding battle 39-28, so it wasn’t a great performance. I like Lehigh to bounce back and stay competitive in this tournament rematch, though. Should be a fun one to watch.
Andrew’s Pick Lehigh Mountain Hawks +7.5
