The Canisius Golden Griffins and the Quinnipiac Bobcats meet Wednesday in MAAC Tournament college basketball action from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall. Let’s get into our Canisius vs. Quinnipiac prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Canisius Golden Griffins
The Griffins struggled to find their form in the early-going this year, stumbling to an 8-14 record through 22 games. Canisius hit a 4-1 run in February, but then took consecutive losses to Rider and Fairfield. The Griffins would follow that up with wins versus Manhattan and Mount St. Mary’s in the next pair.
In Tuesday’s tournament game versus Mount St. Mary’s, the Griffins were up by 10 points at the break. Canisius kept it going with a 38-32 second half and cruised to the win 77-61. Leading the team in scoring was Tre Dinkins with 24 points, four assists and three rebounds.

Quinnipiac Bobcats
Over on the Bobcats’ side, they posted a nice 10-game winning streak in January/February that brought the team to 19-4 overall. Quinnipiac would then fall in four straight games, however. Since then it’s been four straight wins over Iona, Siena, Marist and Saint Peter’s.
In the Saint Peter’s matchup on Saturday, the Bobcats came out of halftime with a 48-40 advantage. Quinnipiac finished on a 41-34 run from there and took the victory 89-74. Leading team scorer Matt Balanc finished with 25 points and four rebounds in the winning effort.
ANDREW’S FREE CANISIUS VS QUINNIPIAC PREDICTION
I’ll probably lean toward Quinnipiac in this one. The Bobcats took a pretty nice road win over Saint Peter’s in their last game, shooting 55.9 percent from the field with a 34-32 rebounding edge and 14-of-15 from the line. That makes 71 or more points in six straight games for Quinnipiac—a 4-2 stretch.
In the last meeting between these teams on February 4, Quinnipiac took a decisive 88-63 win at home. The Bobcats held the Griffins to just 33.9 percent shooting ad scored 16 points off 14 Canisius turnovers. Quinnipiac played well on offense also with 49.3 percent from the field. This rematch may not be so one-sided, but the Bobcats should still be in control.
Andrew’s Pick Quinnipiac Bobcats -5.5
