The Michigan State Spartans and the Indiana Hoosiers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Bloomington Assembly Hall. Let’s get into our Michigan State vs. Indiana prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Michigan State Spartans
The Spartans have been fairly uneven this year, going 14-9 over their first 23 outings total. Since then it’s been a 4-3 run for Michigan State with wins over Illinois, Penn State, Michigan and Northwestern alongside losses to Iowa, Ohio State and Purdue in that time.
In the Northwestern matchup on Wednesday, the Spartans were down 25-20 going into the second half. Michigan State hit a 33-24 run the rest of the way however and took the victory 53-49. Tyson Walker was the team’s leading scorer on 19 points with five rebounds and five assists.
Indiana Hoosiers
Over on the Hoosiers’ side, they started out the year at 12-5. Indiana would then hit a rough 2-8 run in January/February, featuring wins over only Iowa and Ohio State. In the last three games it’s been wins over Wisconsin, Maryland and Minnesota for the Hoosiers, though.
Matched up against Minnesota in their last outing, the Hoosiers came out of the break with a 30-25 edge. Indiana cruised on a 40-33 stretch the rest of the way and banged out the win 70-58. Kel’el Ware led the team on his 26 points with 11 rebounds and three assists.
ANDREW’S FREE MICHIGAN STATE VS INDIANA PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Indiana in this one. The Hoosiers played fairly well against Minnesota in their last outing, notching 54.5 percent shooting from the field. Indiana was outmuscled on the boards 36-26 though (13-4 offensive), and had 14 turnovers along the way. That makes 70 or more points for the Hoosiers in six straight games (a 3-3 run).
As for Michigan State, they’ve been pretty uneven lately but competitive for the most part. The Spartans have been below 58 points in two of the last three games though, so a nice offensive performance would be a good sign here. Ultimately with the home lift I like Indiana to power out the cover (and maybe the win), but it’ll be an interesting matchup.
Andrew’s Pick Indiana Hoosiers +3.5
