St. Louis Billikens
The Billikens have had a pretty rough year, starting things off at 9-14 through their first 23 outings. Saint Louis is just 2-5 since then with losses to Saint Joseph’s, VCU, Duquesne, Richmond and Dayton alongside wins over George Washington and Rhode Island.
In the Dayton matchup on Tuesday, the Billikens came out of the break with a 49-35 deficit. Saint Louis didn’t get any closer on a 51-48 run the rest of the way and lost 100-83. Gibson Jimerson led the team in the losing effort with 24 points and five assists in 40 minutes.
St. Bonaventure Bonnies
Over on the Bonnies’ side, they went 13-7 over their first 20 outings this year. St. Bonaventure has since posted a 5-4 stretch. Those wins were over UMass, Fordham, Davidson and Loyola. The losses came versus Dayton, Duquesne, La Salle and George Washington otherwise.
Matched up against George Washington on Wednesday, the Bonnies held a 42-37 edge by the break. St. Bonaventure was outscored 49-33 the rest of the way however and ended up losing 86-75. Daryl Banks was the team’s leading scorer on 23 points and three steals off the bench.
ANDREW’S FREE ST. LOUIS VS ST. BONAVENTURE PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies had a rough second half against a middling George Washington team in their last outing however, so they’ll need to recover from that. St. Bonaventure gave up a sizzling 58.7 percent shooting and got outmuscled on the boards 31-22 in that one. The Bonnies have hit 75 or more points in three straight games, though.
As for the Billikens, they’ve scored 83 or more points in three of the last four. Trouble is, St. Louis has also given up 80 or more points in four straight (and 91 in three of those). St. Bonaventure should have plenty of scoring opportunities in Saturday’s matchup.
Andrew’s Pick St. Bonaventure Bonnies -13.5
