The Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Saint Peter’s Peacocks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Yanitelli Center. Let’s get into our Quinnipiac vs. St. Peter’s prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Quinnipiac Bobcats
The Bobcats got off to a nice start this year at 19-4 overall. Quinnipiac would lose their next four to Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara, Fairfield and Rider, though. Since then it’s been three straight victories for the Bobcats over Iona, Siena and Marist to move to 22-8 this year.
In the Marist game on Thursday, the Bobcats posted a 37-36 run over the first half. Quinnipiac got better from there on a 36-28 run and took the victory 73-64 in the end. Leading team scorer Matt Balanc put up 17 points with six rebounds and one assist in the win.
St. Peter’s Peacocks
Over on the Peacocks’ side, they started the year at 10-6 but then slid back to the .500 mark with a rough 1-5 run in January/February. Saint Peter’s would beat Siena, Iona, Mount St. Mary’s, Marist and Manhattan over their next five before a loss to Rider.
Matched up against Rider in their Thursday outing, the Peacocks couldn’t find much offense. Saint Peter’s scored 26 points in the first half and another 30 in the second on the way to a 61-56 defeat. Corey Washington managed to double up on 22 points and 12 rebounds, though.
ANDREW’S FREE QUINNIPIAC VS ST. PETER’S PREDICTION
I’ll stick with Quinnipiac. The Bobcats played well against Marist in their last outing, shooting 46.6 percent from the field with 38 rebounds. There were a few blemishes (22.2 percent from 3-point range, 71.4 percent from the line, 12 turnovers) but overall it was a solid home win. Quinnipiac has now scored 71 or more points in five straight games.
Back on February 8 in the last meeting between these teams, Quinnipiac managed an 84-73 win at home. The Bobcats shot a nice 58.7 percent from the field in that one and had a 33-27 advantage on the boards. Quinnipiac will have to clean up the turnovers this time (16 for 24 Peacocks points) but should have a good shot at a cover on Saturday.
Andrew’s Pick Quinnipiac Bobcats +3
