MTSU Blue Raiders
Middle Tennessee managed a rough 6-13 record to start the year. The Raiders would win five of their next seven games however, falling to only Western Kentucky and Liberty. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run with losses to Jacksonville State and Sam Houston alongside wins over Western Kentucky and Liberty.
In the Liberty matchup on Tuesday, the Blue Raiders were up 33-30 going into the second half. Middle Tennessee hit a 36-31 run from there and took the win 69-61 in the end. Tops in scoring was Elias King with 19 points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists in the victory.
LA Tech Bulldogs
Over on the Louisiana Tech side, they were 16-6 through their first 22 outings this year. Following losses in the next pair, the Bulldogs beat Jacksonville State, FIU, UTEP, New Mexico State and Western Kentucky in succession before another loss to Sam Houston.
Matched up against Sam Houston on Thursday, the Bulldogs came out of the break with a 35-27 deficit. Louisiana Tech got slightly better from there on a 39-37 run but ended up losing 72-66. Daniel Batcho was the team’s top contributor on 20 points with nine boards.
ANDREW’S FREE MIDDLE TENNESSEE VS LA TECH PREDICTION
I’ll go with Louisiana Tech here. The Bulldogs really need to bounce back after their flat performance against Sam Houston, though. LA Tech shot just 3-of-15 (20 percent) from 3-point range and 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) from the line in that one, not to mention the 12 turnovers and 42-35 rebounding deficit.
The good news for the Bulldogs is that they pulled off a 60-52 win on the road over Middle Tennessee back on January 11 in their last meeting. Louisiana Tech didn’t shoot very well in that game (36.5 percent), so the offense needs a proverbial shot in the arm for the rematch.
