The Central Florida Knights and the TCU Horned Frogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schollmaier Arena. Let’s get into our UCF vs. TCU prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
UCF Knights
Central Florida held a 13-8 record at the beginning of last month, but then hit a four-game losing streak versus Texas Tech, BYU, Cincinnati and West Virginia. After consecutive wins over Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, the Knights took consecutive losses to Iowa State and Houston.
Matched up against the Cougars on Wednesday, the Knights held a slim three-point lead going into the second half. UCF was outscored 39-28 the rest of the way however and ended up losing 67-59. CJ Walker was the team’s top scorer with 15 points and three rebounds.
TCU Horned Frogs
Over on the Texas Christian side, they were 16-5 heading into February. The Frogs would lose three of the next four games versus Texas, Iowa State and Texas Tech, though. Since then it’s been wins over Cincinnati and West Virginia around losses to Baylor and BYU in the last four.
Back on Wednesday versus West Virginia, the Horned Frogs jumped out to a 53-38 edge by the break. TCU cruised the rest of the way on 40 more points and took the eventual win 93-81. Emanuel Miller led the way on his 21 points, five boards and two steals in 34 minutes.
ANDREW’S FREE UCF VS TCU PREDICTION
I’ll stay with TCU. The Frogs played a solid game versus West Virginia in their last outing, hitting 55.6 percent from the field with 22-of-26 (84.6 percent) from the line. TCU did give up 56.9 percent from the field and had 12 turnovers for 18 Mountaineers points, but everything worked out well. It’s been a couple of solid outings in the last pair following a 54-point dud versus Baylor.
As for UCF, they’ve been below 60 points in consecutive games. To be fair however, those were both very difficult matchups. The Knights can score well when the matchup is right, and I think they’ll hit the 70-point mark in this one. Should be a fun game to watch, and I like the Frogs covering in the end.
Andrew’s Pick TCU Horned Frogs -7.5
