The Baylor Bears and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet Saturday in college basketball action from United Supermarkets Arena. Let’s get into our Baylor vs. Texas Tech prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.

Baylor Bears

The Bears hit a nice 14-5 run to start the year, then hit a 5-1 run in February that featured a loss to only Kansas. Baylor would then lose consecutive games to BYU and Houston. In the three games since however, the Bears have beaten TCU, Kansas and Texas in succession.

Matched up against Texas on Monday in their last outing, the Bears were in trouble at halftime with a 48-40 deficit. Baylor stormed back on a 53-37 run from there however and won it 93-85 in the end. Jalen Bridges was the leading team scorer with his 32 points, nine boards and two steals.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

Over on the Texas Tech side, their year started on a nice 16-3 clip. The Raiders would lose six of the next nine games versus TCU, Cincinnati, Baylor, Iowa State, UCF and Texas, though. Over the last pair Texas Tech has recovered with wins versus West Virginia and Oklahoma State.

In the Oklahoma State game on Tuesday, the Red Raiders didn’t have a ton of issues. Texas Tech hit a 38-17 first-half run that set them up well. The second half was a 41-37 deficit for a 75-58 win in the end. Pop Isaacs put up a team-high 19 points with five assists and four boards in the victory.

I’ll lean toward Baylor in this one. You could make a case either way, though; it should be a fun matchup. The Bears started slowly against Texas in their last outing but eventually shot 53.2 percent from the field with 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from 3-point range and 36 rebounds in a victory. Baylor did give up 13 turnovers for 22 Longhorns points, though. Over the last two games the Bears have scored 175 combined points; they’ve given up 159 on the other side.

In the last meeting between these teams, Baylor took a 79-73 win at home. The Bears shot a cold 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) from outside in that one but otherwise played fairly well. It’s going to be tough taking down the Raiders at home in the rematch but I think Baylor has a good shot at it.

Andrew’s Pick Baylor Bears +1
