NC Central Eagles
The Eagles managed a 10-8 run over their first 18 games this year, then beat MD-Eastern Shore, Delaware State and Coppin State to start February. NC Central is 3-3 since then with wins over MD-Eastern Shore, Delaware State and Coppin State following losses to Morgan State, Howard and Norfolk State.
In the Coppin State matchup over the weekend, the Eagles came out of the break with a 38-24 edge. North Carolina Central hit a 45-34 run from there and took the blowout win 83-58 in the end. Keishon Porter led the way in the victory with 21 points, six rebounds and one steal.
Morgan State Bears
Over on the Bears’ side, they hit a 4-14 start to the season before a 5-1 stretch that featured wins over Coppin State, Howard, South Carolina State, NC Central and MD-Eastern Shore. Morgan State has lost to Delaware State, Howard, Norfolk State and South Carolina State since then.
In the South Carolina State matchup on Saturday, the Bears were all tied up at 40-40 by halftime. Morgan State was able to notch just 21 points in the second half though, limping to a 72-61 loss. Wynston Tabbs was the only double-digit scorer with 13 points and four rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE NC CENTRAL VS MORGAN STATE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with NC Central here. The Eagles blew through a struggling Coppin State team in their last outing, shooting 51.8 percent from the field and 52.6 percent (10-of-19) from 3-point range along the way. NC Central has now scored 72 or more points in seven straight games—including 83 or more in three straight.
The Eagles took a 79-72 overtime loss at home the last time these teams saw each other on February 5. NC Central shot just 39.7 percent from the field and 11-of-20 (55 percent) from the line in that one. Needless to say, the offense needs a kick in this rematch. I think the Eagles will get it and power out the revenge cover.
Andrew’s Pick NC Central Eagles -4
