Montana State Bobcats
The Bobcats managed a .500 run through their first 22 games of the season in a tepid start. Montana State would lose five of the next six games, however. Those losses came versus Idaho, Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, Montana and Sacramento State. The lone win was over Portland State.
In their latest outing versus Idaho on Thursday, the Bobcats jumped out to a 41-27 edge in the first half. Montana State kept the pace from there on 21 more points and took the win 62-48. Robert Ford topped the team on his 14 points, three steals and four rebounds.
Eastern Washington Eagles
Over on the Eagles’ side, they started off on a rough 4-7 run then hit a nine-game win streak before a loss to Montana State. Eastern Washington went 5-2 in the next seven with wins over Montana, Portland State, Idaho, Idaho State and Northern Colorado. The losses were versus Weber State and Northern Arizona otherwise.
Matched up against Montana on Thursday, the Eagles faced a 41-38 deficit going into the second half. Eastern Washington hit a 51-38 run the rest of the way and took the victory 89-79. Casey Jones was the lead scorer on his 30 points, six rebounds and two assists.
ANDREW’S FREE MONTANA STATE VS EASTERN WASHINGTON PREDICTION
I’ll just stay with Eastern Washington. The Eagles beat a pretty decent Grizzlies team on Thursday thanks to 53.6 percent shooting and 31 rebounds. Eastern Washington added 15 team assists, 82.8 percent from the line and just five turnovers as well. It’s been a great scoring run for the Eagles: 71 or more points in eight straight.
When these teams last met on February 1, Eastern Washington took a 70-60 road loss. The Bobcats shot a rough 36.9 percent from the field in that one but took the win thanks to the Eagles abysmal 2-of-18 (11.1 percent) from 3-point range and 18 turnovers. Eastern Washington has a lot to clean up heading into this home rematch. If the Eagles can control the errors this time however, I think they’ll be okay.
Andrew’s Pick Eastern Washington Eagles -10.5
