Lindenwood Lions
The Lions managed a 6-7 start to the year, then were able to win just two games between December 22 and February 29 (both over Southeast Missouri State). Following a seven-game losing streak in February Lindenwood was finally able to get a victory over Southern Indiana on Thursday.
In their Southern Indiana matchup, the Lions came out of the break with a 35-31 deficit. Lindenwood posted a 36-28 run the rest of the way in a 67-63 win. Leading the team in scoring was Nathan Johnson with 18 points, five rebounds and two steals in 31 minutes off the bench.
Morehead State Eagles
Over on the Morehead State side, their season has gone much better. The Eagles kicked things off on a 20-5 run, but then took losses to Little Rock, TN-Martin and Southern Indiana. Morehead State followed that up with wins over Western Illinois and Southeast Missouri State.
Matched up against Southeast Missouri State in their Thursday outing, the Eagles jumped out to a 34-25 edge by the break. Morehead State followed that up with a 38-25 run and took the blowout win 72-50. Kalil Thomas was tops on the team with 18 points, three rebounds and three assists.
ANDREW’S FREE LINDENWOOD VS MOREHEAD STATE PREDICTION
I’ll lean toward Morehead State, but the line’s probably too thick to mess with. The Eagles didn’t have too many issues versus SEMO in their last game with 53.3 percent shooting and a 38-23 rebounding advantage. If there was one blemish it was the 19 turnovers, however. Morehead State has now hit 67 or more points in nine straight games.
As for Lindenwood, they’re coming off a much-needed victory. This matchup will obviously be much tougher, though. The Lions have given up 72 or more points in four of their last five games now (all four being losses) so the Eagles should have plenty of room to score.
