The Boston College Eagles will host the Virginia Cavaliers for an ACC matchup this Wednesday from the Conte Forum on ESPNU. UVA leads the current series, 19-9, but BC comes in as 2.5-point home favorites, with the total sitting at 126.5. Stay tuned for our Virginia vs Boston College Prediction.

Virginia Cavaliers Preview

Virginia comes in at 20-8 after falling to North Carolina in Charlottesville, 54-44. The Cavaliers came up short in a defensive battle with the Tar Heels, and they’ll attempt to respond here against BC. UVA is scoring 63.4 points per game, on 43.8% shooting, while allowing 57.8 ppg, and they’re currently third in the ACC with a 11-6 record in league play. The Cavaliers are 7-3 over their last ten games, and they’ve gone 4-5 on the road this season.

Virginia Team Profile

  • Virginia annually leans on their defense, and they play at one of the slowest paces in the country, averaging 63.6 possessions per game (360th), and they’ve been solid from the outside, shooting 36.4%.
  • Veteran guard Reese Beekman has scored 19 points or more in three of the last five games, and he leads UVA in scoring (13.8) and assists (5.8), while grabbing 3.3 rpg.
  • Second-year guard Isaac McNeely struggled in the loss to UNC, but he’s still second on the team at 12.2 ppg.
  • Sophomore guard Ryan Dunn leads the Wahoos in rebounding (6.9), while scoring 8.4 ppg.

Boston College Eagles Preview

Boston College fell to 15-12 after losing to N.C. State in Raleigh, 81-70. The Eagles were unable to overcome a slow start, and they’ll try to prevent a third straight defeat here versus UVA. BC is scoring 76.0 points per game, on 46.6% shooting, while allowing 70.8 ppg, and they’re currently 11th in the ACC with a 3-6 record in league play. The Eagles are 4-6 over their previous ten games, and they’re 10-4 in Chestnut Hill this season.

Boston College Team Profile

  • Boston College plays at a respectable pace, averaging 72.0 possessions per game (173rd), and they’ve been effective well from deep, shooting 36.9% from three.
  • Senior forward Quinten Post has gone for 17 points or more in three straight home games, and he leads Boston College in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (7.7).
  • Former CHSO guard Claudell Harris Jr. has struggled with his shot over the past two games, but he remains second on the team at 13.7 ppg.
  • Junior guard Jaeden Zackery led the way with 19 points in the FSU matchup, and he leads BC in assists (4.3), while averaging 11.7 ppg.

Virginia vs Boston College Trends

  • UVA is 14-13-1 against the spread, with a 11-17 O/U record
  • BC is 11-16 ATS, with a 17-10 over/under record.

Virginia vs Boston College Prediction: Spread

Virginia heads up to Chestnut Hill on the heels of two rivalry losses to UNC and Virginia Tech, and there’s a good chance they find their way back into the win column. It’s not pretty, but what UVA does is still effective in some spots, and with their bubble hopes clouding, a strong effort is needed here. The Cavaliers have a date in Cameron this weekend with Duke, so like rolling the dice and spotting them the points for this ACC contest.

Virginia vs Boston College Prediction: Total

Although the magic number is very low, and UVA is taking the floor, there’s a chance the number can still be hit with BC being the hosts. The Golden Eagles past five games have cleared this number comfortably, so if they find a way to prevent the Wahoos from controlling the entire contest, it can be hit. The total is attainable, so give the Over a look for this conference matchup.
