The Yale Bulldogs will travel to Ithaca to take on the Cornell Big Red in Ivy League action this Friday from the Newman Arena on ESPN+.Yale leads the current series, 83-65, but Cornell comes in as 1.5-point home favorites, with the total hovering 155.5. Stay tuned for our Yale vs Cornell Prediction.

Yale Bulldogs Rundown

Yale moved to 17-7 after losing to Princeton on the road, 73-62. The Bulldogs were outmatched in their battle of conference heavyweights with the Tigers, and they’ll try to prevent a second straight defeat to the league-leading Raiders this Friday. Yale is scoring 75.5 points per game, on 46.6% shooting, while allowing 67.8 ppg, and they’re currently second in the Ivy League with a 8-1 record in conference play.

Yale’s X-Factors

  • Sophomore forward Danny Wolf has posted a double-double in eight of the last ten games,  and he leads Yale in scoring (14.7) and rebounding (9.8).
  • Potomac native Bez Mbeng went for a team-high 18 points in the Princeton matchup, and he leads the team in assists (3.8), with averaging 12.6 ppg and 4.4 rpg.
  • Junior guard John Poulakidas led the way with 17 points in the road win over Penn, and he’s second on the team at 13.0 ppg.
  • Veteran forward Matt Knowling has reached double figures in seven straight games, and he’s up to 11.4 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

Cornell Big Red Rundown

Cornell improved to 19-4 after defeating Dartmouth at home, 69-60. The Big Red controlled both halves to beat the Big Green, and they’ll look to tack on win number 20 here against the Bulldogs. Cornell is scoring 83.6 points per game, on 49.8% shooting, while allowing 78.4 ppg, and they’re currently first in the Ivy League with a 8-1 record in conference play. Cornell will meet Brown after this one.

Cornell’s X-Factors

  • Veteran guard Chris Manon came thru with a game-high 25 points in the Dartmouth victory,  and he leads Cornell in scoring (12.7), while grabbing 4.1 rpg.
  • Third-year guard Nazir Williams scored 17 points in the February 10th loss to Yale, and he’s second on the team at 11.1 ppg.
  • Junior forward Guy Ragland Jr. leads the Big Red in rebounding (5.1), while scoring 9.1 ppg.

Yale vs Cornell Trends

  • YAL is 11-9-2 against the spread, with a 12-10 over/under record
  • The Bulldogs are 9-1 over their last ten games, and they’re 8-5 on the road this season.
  • COR is 10-11 against the spread, with a 13-8 O/U record
  • The Big Red are 9-1 over their previous ten games, and they’re 9-0 in Ithaca this season.

Yale vs Cornell Prediction

Cornell will come into Friday’s contest with revenge on mind, and it may ultimately be the path to take in this pick ‘em spot with Yale. The Big Red suffered their lone blemish in conference play to the Bulldogs by two in New Haven a few weeks ago, and with the second leg taking place in Ithaca, there’s a good chance they avenge that defeat. Yale enters this one on the heels of their first league loss as well, so while they won’t be an easy out, a motivated Cornell bunch should be able to get the job done to remain undefeated at home. The Under has a chance if the matchup is less competitive this time, but I like swaying Cornell’s way for this Patriot League battle.
