The Oregon Ducks will head down to Palo Alto to face the Stanford Cardinal in Pac-12 play this Thursday from the Maples Pavilion on ESPN2. Stanford leads the current series, 83-58, but Oregon enters as 1.5-point road favorites, with the total hovering 150.5. Stay tuned for our Oregon vs Stanford Prediction.

Oregon Ducks Preview

Oregon enters at 17-8 after defeating Oregon State in Corvallis by two, 60-58. The Ducks held off a fierce rally from the Beavers to pick up the Civil War victory, and they’ll look to avoid trading a ninth straight game here against the Cardinal. Oregon is scoring 76.3 points per game, on 45.6% shooting, while allowing 75.3 ppg, and they’re currently third in the Pac-12 with a 9-5 record in conference play. The Ducks are 5-5 over their previous ten games, and they’re 5-3 on the road this season.

Oregon Team Profile

  • Dana Altman’s group moves at a balanced pace, averaging 72.0 possessions per game (139th), and they’ve been successful from the outside, knocking down 37.6% of their three-point shots (28th).
  • Senior center N’Faly Dante delivered a game-high 22 points in the in-state win over OSU, and he leads Oregon in scoring (15.3) and rebounding (8.2).
  • Veteran guard Jermaine Cousinard led the way with 27 points in the Washington victory, and he’s averaging 14.8 ppg and 4.5 rpg.
  • Freshman guard Jackson Shelstad chipped in 15 points versus the Beavers, and he’s third on the Ducks at 12.1 ppg.

Stanford Cardinal Preview

Stanford dropped to 12-13 after losing to Washington State in Pullman, 72-59. The Cardinal weren’t able to contain the Cougars after the break, and they’ll try to prevent a third straight loss here versus the Ducks. Stanford is scoring 77.5 points per game, on 47.2% shooting, while allowing 75.9 ppg, and they’re currently 7th in the Pac-12 with a 6-6 record in conference play. The Cardinal are 4-6 over their previous ten games, and they’ve gone 9-4 in Stanford this season.

Stanford Team Profile

  • Jerod Haase’s squad likes to play up pace, averaging 74.7 possessions per game (46th), and they’re one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country at 38.6% (12th).
  • Junior forward Maxime Raynaud has scored 19 points or more in four of the last five games, and he leads Stanford in scoring (15.1) and rebounding (10.0).
  • San Diego native Brandon Angel went for a team-high 19 points in the Washington matchup, and he’s averaging 13.0 ppg and 4.5 rpg.
  • Senior guard Michael Jones has knocked down multiple threes in five of the previous eight games, and he’s up to 11.1 ppg.

Oregon vs Stanford Trends

  • ORE is 13-12 against the spread, with a 15-10 O/U record
  • STAN is 13-12 ATS, with a 15-10 over/under record.

Oregon vs Stanford Prediction

Oregon’s inconsistency makes them iffy as favorites here, but with their postseason hopes very much alive, they may be able to capitalize on a struggling Stanford squad. The Cardinal haven’t produced consistently enough around big man Maxime Raynaud, and it’s cost them some games during the conference slate. It's alarming how the Ducks can’t seem to win consecutive games, and with both schools trending well with the Over, I like swaying that way for this Pac-12 clash.
