The Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners and the Long Beach State Beach meet Thursday in college basketball action from Walter Pyramid. CSU Bakersfield is coming off a loss to UC Irvine that dropped the Roadrunners to 10-16 so far. As for Long Beach State, they’re 17-9 overall after a win versus CSU Northridge. Let’s get into our CSU Bakersfield vs. Long Beach State prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.

CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners

Cal State Bakersfield managed a shaky 8-11 run over their first 19 games this year. Things haven’t gotten any better since then on a 2-5 run. The losses in that time have come versus CSU Fullerton, UC Santa Barbara, UC Riverside, CSU Northridge and UC Irvine.

In the UC Irvine game last weekend, the Roadrunners were down 39-33 going into the second half. CSU Bakersfield held the pace from there but ended up losing 77-71 in the end. Top team scorer Kaleb Higgins finished with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Long Beach State Beach

Over on the Long Beach State side, their year began on a 13-9 stretch through the first 22 outings. The Beach are on a four-game win streak since then, however. Those wins have come versus UC San Diego, Cal Poly, UC Davis and Cal State Northridge in succession.

Matched up against CSU Northridge in the Saturday game, the Beach came out of the break with a 36-35 deficit. Long Beach State hit the gas from there with 52 more points in an 87-73 win. Jadon Jones topped the team with his 22 points and three rebounds in 28 minutes of work.

ANDREW’S FREE CSU BAKERSFIELD VS LONG BEACH STATE PREDICTION

I’ll stick with Long Beach State. The Beach started a little slowly versus a decent CSU Northridge team in their last outing but everything worked out well in the end. Long Beach State hit 47 percent from the field with 40 rebounds and scored 24 points off 16 Matadors turnovers. It’s been a good scoring run for the Beach lately with 76 or more points in five straight.

The Beach’s last loss came versus CSU Bakersfield 82-76 in overtime February 1 during a road matchup. Both teams shot upwards of 43.6 percent in that one, but Long Beach State hit just 25 percent from 3-point range compared to the Roadrunners’ 55 percent. Both teams will need to clean up the turnovers (30 total last time) in this rematch, and all things considered I like the Beach to take some revenge.
