The DePaul Blue Demons and the Marquette Golden Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Fiserv Forum. DePaul is sitting at just 3-22 so far after a loss to Providence in their last outing. As for Marquette, they’re coming off a loss to UConn that dropped the Eagles to 19-6 overall. Let’s get into our DePaul vs. Marquette prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
DePaul Blue Demons
It’s been a tough season for the Blue Demons so far. Wins have been tough to come by; they’ve only beaten South Dakota, Louisville and Chicago State. DePaul is currently riding a 13-game losing streak, most recently falling to Providence over the weekend.
In the Saturday matchup with Providence, the Blue Demons were within four points at halftime. DePaul fell behind on a 47-40 run from there however, eventually losing 81-70. Leading team scorers Elijah Fisher and Jaden Henley each posted 15 points with a combined six boards.
Marquette Golden Eagles
Over on the Marquette side, they’ve fared much better so far this year. The Golden Eagles started out on an 11-5 run, then beat Villanova, St. John’s, DePaul, Seton Hall, Villanova, Georgetown, St. John’s and Butler in succession before a loss to UConn in their last outing.
Matched up against a tough UConn team in the Saturday game, the Eagles were drilled 42-26 in the first half. Marquette fell even further behind in the second on a 39-27 run and lost big 81-53. Kam Jones was the team’s lead scorer with his 15 points and four rebounds.
ANDREW’S FREE DEPAUL VS MARQUETTE PREDICTION
I’ll stay with Marquette. The line's a little thick to mess with, though. The Golden Eagles couldn’t hang around with UConn for long in their last outing, eventually getting out-rebounded 45-27 and shooting a cold 36.8 percent from the field. Marquette had scored 73 or more points in eight straight games prior to that however, and should bounce back well in this one.
These teams last met up back on January 24 in an 86-73 road win for the Eagles. Marquette shot a nice 54.5 percent from the field in that one and outmuscled the Demons on the boards 32-25. This home rematch is a good opportunity for the Eagles to bounce back with a win/cover.
Andrew’s Pick Marquette Golden Eagles -26.5
