As for Texas Tech, they’re coming off a loss to Iowa State that dropped the Raiders to 18-7 as well. Let’s get into our TCU vs. Texas Tech prediction. TCU Horned Frogs
The Frogs only lost five of their first 21 games this year. Those defeats came courtesy of Clemson, Nevada, Kansas, Cincinnati and Iowa State. After two more losses to Texas and Iowa State, TCU has since won consecutive outings versus West Virginia and Kansas State.
On Saturday versus Kansas State, the Frogs faced a 28-24 deficit going into the second half. TCU fought back with a 51-44 run the rest of the way and took the comeback win 75-72. Micah Peavy led the team with 26 points, nine rebounds and three steals in the victory.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Over on the Texas Tech side, they fell to only Villanova, Butler and Houston over their first 19 games this year. The Red Raiders have stumbled on a 2-4 run since then though, losing to TCU, Cincinnati, Baylor and Iowa State with wins over UCF and Kansas otherwise.
In their last matchup with Iowa State, the Red Raiders were outscored 38-24 in the first half. Texas Tech got better from there on a 50-44 run but still lost 82-74 in the end. Leading team scorer Joe Toussaint posted 16 points with four assists in the losing effort.
ANDREW’S FREE TCU VS TEXAS TECH PREDICTION
I’ll stick with TCU in this one. The Frogs are coming off a solid comeback win on the road over Kansas State in their last game despite shooting a tepid 42.9 percent from the field and coughing up 14 turnovers (leading to 19 Wildcats points). TCU has hit a combined 156 points over the last two games following just 125 in the previous pair.
In the last meeting between these teams back on January 30, the Frogs powered out an 85-78 home win. TCU gave up 51.9 percent shooting in that one but also had a 34-27 rebounding advantage and scored 13 points off 13 Red Raiders turnovers. I expect this rematch to be a tight game as well, but I’m leaning toward a Frogs cover in the end. Should be a fun one to watch regardless.
