Alcorn State is coming off a win over AR-Pine Bluff that lifted the Braves to 6-17 overall. As for MS Valley State, they’re winless through 23 games, most recently falling to Jackson State. Let’s get into our Alcorn State vs. MS Valley State prediction. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Pick Dawgz.
Alcorn State Braves
The Braves only managed five wins over their first 20 games. Those came versus Xavier LA, Alabama A&M, Prairie View, Florida A&M and Bethune-Cookman. Alcorn State would then lose to Southern and Grambling before finding another victory versus AR-Pine Bluff.
In the Saturday matchup with AR-Pine Bluff, the Braves took a one-point edge into the second half. Alcorn State hit a 39-28 run from there and finished off the win 68-56. Jeremiah Kendall was tops on the team with 16 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes of work.
MS Valley State Delta Devils
Over on the MS Valley State side, it’s been a futile 23-game run so far. The Delta Devils have lost to Alabama State, Alabama A&M, Prairie View A&M, Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M, Grambling, Southern, AR-Pine Bluff and Jackson State during this calendar year.
Back on Saturday versus Jackson State, MS Valley State was leading 36-34 going into the second half. The Delta Devils were outscored 43-33 from there however, leading to a 77-69 defeat. Rayquan Brown was the team’s high scorer with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists.
ANDREW’S FREE ALCORN STATE VS MS VALLEY STATE PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on MS Valley State. Granted, there’s not much to get excited about here, but if the Delta Devils are going to get a victory this isn’t a bad spot to find it. MS Valley State didn’t play horrifically against Jackson State in their last outing, hitting 41.7 percent from the field and 40.9 percent (9-of-22) from outside. The 45-30 rebounding deficit hurt however, as did the 11 turnovers. That makes 146 combined points in the last two games for MS Valley State, but they’re also giving up quite a bit on the other side these days. Alcorn State shouldn’t have a ton of issues scoring themselves, so I like this one to be a fairly high-total finish.
