The Tennessee Volunteers and the Texas A&M Aggies meet in college basketball action from the Reed Arena on Saturday night. Who comes out on top in this SEC showdown? Let’s dive in and find out with our Tennessee vs. Texas A&M Prediction.
Tennessee Team Preview
The Tennessee Volunteers come into this one looking to build on back-to-back wins after an 88-68 win over LSU last time out. Dalton Knecht leads the Volunteers in scoring with 20.2 PPG and 4.7 RPG while Jonas Aidoo has 11.5 PPG with a team-high 7.4 RPG to lead the Vols on the glass up to this point in the year. Zakai Zeigler has 10.8 PPG with a team-high 5.5 APG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Tennessee as the Vols’ leading assist man. Josiah-Jordan James also has 9.2 PPG and 6.5 RPG as well this season. As a team, Tennessee is averaging 80 PPG on 45.3% shooting from the field, 34.5% from three and 75% from the foul line this season.
Texas A&M Team Preview
The Texas A&M Aggies come into this one looking to build on back-to-back wins as well after a 79-60 win over Missouri last time out. Wade Taylor IV leads the Aggies in scoring and assists with 19.7 PPG and 3.6 APG along with 3.7 RPG and 2.3 SPG while Henry Coleman III has 10.3 PPG with 7 RPG to lead the Aggies on the glass this season. Tyrece Radford has 14.3 PPG with 5.5 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Texas A&M so far this season. Andersson Garcia has a team-high 8.9 RPG as well for the Aggies this season. As a team, Texas A&M is averaging 73.7 PPG on 39.5% shooting from the field, 26.6% from three and 69.2% from the foul line this season.
Tennessee vs. Texas A&M Prediction
I’m on the Aggies here. I know it’s not easy to pass up the Vols with a short number home or away, but the Aggies need a big win like this to add to their tournament resume, and you could easily argue that the Aggies would lock in a spot in the field of 68 with a win over Tennessee here. The Vols are also riding high after their win over Kentucky and LSU and I think they come back down to earth with Texas A&M having a legitimate chance at winning this outright.
