UTSA Drops 3rd Straight
The UTSA Roadrunners come into this one looking to rebound from a 72-62 loss to Texas State in their last matchup. Adante’ Holiman leads the Roadrunners in scoring with 13 PPG while Christian Tucker has 10.5 PPG with a team-high 5.5 APG to lead the Roadrunners in the assist department this season as the only other double-digit scorer for UTSA so far this season. Dre Fuller Jr., PJ Carter and Trey Edmonds each have 9.8 PPG with Fuller Jr. and Edmonds each logging 7+ PPG while Carlton Linguard Jr. has a team-high 7.7 RPG as well on the year. As a team, UTSA is averaging 74.5 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field, 30.4% from three and 69.7% from the foul line this season.
Houston Christian Remains Winless
The Houston Christian Huskies come into this one looking to bounce back from an 83-74 loss at the hands of FIU in their last game. Marcus Greene leads the Huskies in scoring with 13.5 PPG while Michael Imariagbe and Pierce Bazil each have 12.5 PPG with Bazil logging 5 RPG and a team-high 3.5 APG to lead the Huskies in the assist department. Jay Alvarez has 11 PPG and 6 RPG after his lone game of the season while Bonke Maing has a team-high 6.5 RPG to lead the Huskies on the glass this season. As a team, Houston Christian is averaging 68.5 PPG on 48.2% shooting from the field, 16.7% from three and 56.5% from the foul line this season.
I’m leaning towards UTSA here. Houston Christian is rated as one of the bottom-5 teams in the country by most analytics, and the Huskies have shown why early on. The defense is bad, the offense is bad, and just not much goes right. UTSA isn’t a whole lot better, but they’re the better team defensively and I think they do enough to bag the win and cover here.
