UConn vs Indiana Prediction - College Basketball Picks 11/19/23
The UConn Huskies and the Indiana Hoosiers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Madison Square Garden. UConn is currently 3-0 on the year and beat Mississippi Valley State in their last game. As for Indiana, they’re 3-0 as well following a Thursday win over Wright State. UConn Huskies
The Huskies haven’t had a ton of issues through three games so far, taking out Northern Arizona, Stonehill and Mississippi Valley State. UConn is averaging a nice 96.3 points per game in that trio, with 57.3 points per game allowed on the other side. The Huskies have generated 44.3 rebounds per game and 59 assists total as well.
In their latest win over MS Valley State on Tuesday, UConn jumped out to a 44-27 lead by halftime. The Huskies scored another 43 points in the second for an 87-53 blowout win. Tops in scoring was Cam Spencer with 25 points and four assists. Donovan Clingan added 17 points with five rebounds and one assist.
Indiana Hoosiers
Over on the Indiana side, they’ve had three relatively close games so far but have emerged unscathed with wins over Florida Gulf Coast, Army and Wright State. The Hoosiers have managed 76.7 points per game and allowed 69.0 points on defense. Indiana is averaging 33.0 rebounds per game, as are their opponents.
Indiana’s latest win came Thursday versus Wright State. The Hoosiers scored 54 in the first half and 35 more after the break during an 89-80 win. Kel’el Ware doubled up on 22 points with 12 rebounds in the victory. Malik Reneau put up 16 points with eight boards, and Trey Galloway added 15 points with five assists.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’ll stick with UConn. The Huskies haven’t showcased too many weaknesses so far, and they haven’t really been tested yet through three games. UConn shot a nice 54.7 percent from the field in their latest win, bagging a 47-36 rebounding advantage and hitting 11-of-28 (39.3 percent) from 3-point range. The Huskies should dominate the boards against Indiana, which will control the flow of the game here.
Speaking of Indiana, they shot a rough 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) from outside with just 20-of-32 (62.5 percent) from the line in their latest win. The Hoosiers had a slight rebounding edge 44-40, but it’s going to be much harder on the glass versus UConn. I don’t think Indiana gets too close in this one.
