The Brown Bears and USC Trojans face off on Sunday in a college basketball showdown at the Galen Center.
Brown’s Defense Could be an Issue
Brown hasn’t found a whole lot of success so far this season and the defense has been a major issue why. Two games ago against New Hampshire, Brown scored only 64 points while the defense gave up 84 points on the way to the defeat. In the last game against Rhode Island, Brown scored 92 points and they ended up winning by 41 points. Brown on the season is averaging 75.3 points while their defense is giving up 70.5 points per game. In this game the defense is going to need to step up or this could be a long game.
How Does USC Bounce Back?
USC was dealing with some injury issues in the last game and that led to some major struggles. USC scored only 60 points and they ended up winning by 70 points. The top offensive player for USC was Isaiah Collier and he finished with 23 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Boogie Ellis is one of the players who missed the last game with an ankle injury and he’s questionable for this game. If he can’t go, it’s going to be a huge loss for USC. USC is averaging 75.7 points while their defense is giving up 66 points per game.
Shane’s Free Pick
Without knowing the injury status of Ellis, it’s hard to feel super comfortable with this game. Everyone saw how bad the Trojans struggled without Ellis in the last game and if he doesn’t go, I think it’s going to be an issue again. Brown probably won’t win this game, and it’s still going to be a test, but Brown is going to find a way to cover the spread. Back Brown against the spread.
Shane’s Pick Brown +18
