The Seattle Redhawks will play the VCU Rams in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon at the Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia. Seattle is coming off of a disappointing loss, while VCU has won two games in a row.
Seattle Preview
The Seattle Redhawks are 2-1 this year after they lost to Northern Arizona by a score of 62-60 in their last game. Seattle trailed 40-28 at halftime, but almost came back in the second half, as they held NAU to only 22 points. The Redhawks shot 35.3% from the field and turned the ball over 18 times in the loss. Seattle won their first two games of the season against Montana State and Prairie View. The Redhawks are scoring 67.3 points per game with 36.7 rebounds per game and 11 assists per game, while giving up 63.3 points against per game this season. Cameron Tyson is averaging 15.7 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 0.7 steals per game. Seattle is shooting 41.8% from the field, 79.7% on free throws, and 21.2% on three pointers this year.
VCU Preview
The VCU Rams are 2-1 this season after they defeated Radford by a score of 73-50 in their last game. VCU was tied at 33 at halftime in this game, but they won the second half by a total of 40-17 for the blowout win. The Rams shot 48% from the field and forced 17 turnovers in the game. VCU lost their opening game to McNeese, but they defeated Samford in their second game. The Rams are scoring 71 points per game with 36.3 rebounds per game and 14.3 assists per game, while allowing 63.7 points against per game this year. Max Shulga is averaging 15.7 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, and 3.3 assists per game for VCU this year. The Rams are shooting 46.1% from the field, 75.4% on free throws, and 29.7% on three pointers this season.
Pick
VCU opened the season with a terrible loss, but they have bounced back with two double-digit victories in their last two games. Seattle had a bunch of confidence heading into their last game, but they lost to a Northern Arizona team that I don’t consider very good. Seattle is shooting 41.8% from the field, which is going to be a problem against a solid VCU defense. VCU is the better team in this matchup and I think they will pull away in the second half once again.
David’s Pick VCU -8.5
