The Morgan State Bears and Frenso State Bulldogs face off on Wednesday in a college basketball showdown at the Save Mart Center.
Good Measuring Stick for Morgan State
Morgan State opened up the season against Arizona and they really struggled giving up 122 points. Morgan State over the last two games has knocked off Cheyney and Wilkes-Barre and both of those were pretty comfortable wins. Those were against teams that they should have blown out, but now they get to face off a team that is similar. Morgan State still seems to have a lot of question marks about how much success they will have, but this should give a good indication. In the last game Morgan State was led by Kamron Hobbs and he put up 21 points and five rebounds. There were four different players that finished with at least 11 points.
Fresno State Looks to Bounce Back
Fresno State comes into this game with a 1-1 record, but they were defeated in the last game. In the last game against Kent State, Fresno State scored only 69 points and that led to the 10 point defeat. In the first half they scored only 22 points and they need to find a way to get the offense going here. Xavier DuSell had a strong game putting up 18 points, six rebounds, and one assist. In this game, Fresno State is going to need to get the offense going early, and they need to put the pressure on Morgan State’s defense.
Shane’s Free Pick
This game is going to be higher scoring. Fresno State’s offense was strong in the second half of the last game and they are going to find success again here. Morgan State is also going to score plenty of points here against a Fresno State defense that I believe is going to have some major issues. Look for both teams to push the pace, very little defense to be played by either side, and the over is going to cash.
