The Campbell Fighting Camels Virginia Tech Hokies face off on Wednesday in a college basketball showdown at Cassell Coliseum.
Virginia Tech Looks to Bounce Back
Virginia Tech sits with a 1-1 record, but they didn’t look great in the last game. Virginia Tech scored 79 points against South Carolina, and they ended up losing by two points. In the second half they outscored South Carolina 46-41, but it still wasn’t enough as they fell just short. Virginia Tech shot 50 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from behind the three point line. Virginia Tech was led by Sean Pedulla who finished with 26 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. There were three different players that put up at least 12 points.
Campbell Needs to Get the Offense in Gear
Campbell comes into this game with a 1-1 record but neither of the games the offense was good. In the last game against East Carolina, Campbell scored 63 points and they ended up losing by 14 points. Even in the game they won against Navy two games ago, Campbell only scored 59 points and that led to the defeat. Against Navy they gave up only 18 points in the first half and they are going to need the defense to step up again in a big way. In the last game Anthony Dell’Orso was the top player putting up 35 points, eight rebounds, and one assist. It’s going to need to be a balanced attack to find success here.
Shane’s Free Pick
This Campbell offense can’t be trusted and they are going to really struggle in this game. I do expect their defense is going to be good though, and that is going to be the difference here. Campbell proved in the first game giving up 48 points that their defense can step up. Look for Virginia Tech and Campbell to be involved in a lower scoring battle and that will be the difference here. Back the under. This is one of my favorite plays on the board and it will be on my card.
