Holy Cross Preview
The Holy Cross Crusaders are 0-1 this year after they lost to Siena by a score of 73-71 in their last game. Holy Cross trailed by 10 points at halftime, but they outscored Siena 43-35 in the second half to lose by two points. The Crusaders shot 52.7% from the field, 50% on three pointers, and 25% on free throws in the game. Holy Cross was out rebounded by a total of 35-32, had 13 assists, and turned the ball over 11 times in the loss. Bo Montgomery led the Crusaders with 17 points and six rebounds, while Joe Nugent added 12 points and three rebounds in the game. Holy Cross allowed 73 points on 44.6% field goal shooting and forced 11 turnovers in the loss.
The Georgetown Hoyas are 1-0 this season after they defeated Le Moyne by a score of 94-57 in their first game. Georgetown scored 47 points in each half and they held their opponent to only 23 points in the first half. The Hoyas shot 57.8% from the field, 37% on three pointers, and 52.6% on free throws in the win. Georgetown recorded 52 rebounds, 23 assists, and turned the ball over 17 times in the game. Supreme Cook led the Hoyas with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Dontrez Styles added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Georgetown allowed 57 points on 32.3% field goal shooting and forced 11 turnovers in the win.
Georgetown looked very solid in their first game, but they did play Le Moyne, who was playing their first game as a Division 1 team. Holy Cross played well in the second half of their opener, as they came up just short in their comeback attempt. The Hoyas shot over 57% in their first game, but there is no way they can replicate that performance in my opinion. I think Holy Cross will present them a much tougher challenge and I like the Crusaders to keep this game somewhat close.
