San Diego State Preview
The San Diego State Aztecs are 1-0 this season after they defeated Cal State Fullerton by a score of 83-57 in their first game. San Diego State only led 37-35 at the half, but they out scored the Titans by a total of 46-22 in the second half for the win. The Aztecs shot 45.2% from the field, 29% on three pointers, and 64.3% on free throws in the game. SDSU recorded 42 rebounds, 19 assists, and committed 14 turnovers in the win. Jaedon LeDee led San Diego State with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Micah Parrish added 17 points and six rebounds. The Aztecs gave up 57 points on 32.8% shooting from the field and forced 18 turnovers in the victory.
The BYU Cougars are 1-0 this year after they defeated Houston Christian by a score of 110-63 in their last game. BYU scored 56 points in the first half and 54 points in the second half, while also holding Houston Christian to only 18 first half points. The Cougars shot 47.6% from the field, 34.9% on three pointers, and 83.3% on free throws. BYU out rebounded Houston Christian by a total of 59-25, had 27 assists, and only turned the ball over nine times in the game. Spencer Johnson led BYU with 20 points and seven assists, while Trevin Knell added 19 points and five rebounds in the win. BYU allowed 63 points on 43.3% field goal shooting and they forced 15 turnovers in the game.
This should be one of the more entertaining matchups on Friday, as we have two very solid teams facing each other here. BYU scored 110 points in their first game and they looked amazing on offense, but they will go against that tough SDSU defense here. The Aztecs held their first opponent to only 57 points and 32% field goal shooting, so it will be interesting to see which team can control the pace of the game. BYU will have the home court advantage and they are the slight favorite in this game, but I am going with San Diego State here. I really like how the Aztecs play defensively and I think they will be able to slow BYU down. Take San Diego State to get the win.
