Troy Dominates Game 1

Troy opened up their season against Fort Lauderdale, and they were able to secure the 92-47 victory. At the end of the first half they were up 38-18, and they never looked back on the way to the blowout victory. Troy shot 46.6 percent from the field but only 24.2 percent from behind the three point line. In this game, Troy is going to need to be better shooting from deep. They also only shot 66.7 percent from the free throw line. The top player for Troy was Tayton Conerway and in 15 minutes he scored 15 points. There were five different players that finished with at least 10 points. 

Who is Going to Step up for Ohio?

Ohio has high expectations for this season, but there are a lot of rumblings about how this team doesn’t have a true superstar. Last season, Dwight Wilson was the star of the show and a mismatch at center, but he’s gone now, and replacing him is going to be hard. The top returning player is Jaylin Hunter, and last season he averaged 13.2 points while shooting 40.8 percent from behind the three point line. Elmore James really stepped up the last couple of months of last season, and the help is that he’s going to take a step forward. He averaged 6.8 points per game this season, they are going to need him to get closer to 14 or 15 points per game this season.
