The Creighton Bluejays and Florida A&M Rattlers face off on Tuesday in a college basketball showdown at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
Is This the Creighton Job That Gets it Done?
Creighton found a whole lot of success last season and they were knocked out of the NCAA tournament in the Elite Eight. Creighton lost a couple of key players in Ryan Nembhard and Arthur Kaluma but they also got a couple of good players in the transfer portal. Steven Ashworth was brought in from Utah State and he’s in line for a huge season. Six of the eight top scorers from season are back. They did have a trip to the Bahamas this summer that included three games and that should really help some of the players like Ashworth get comfortable with the new team. Especially early in the season that experience during the offseason is going to help this team.
Can Florida A&M be somewhat Competitive?
If Florida A&M can look even somewhat competitive in this game, that should be considered a major win. Florida A&M has made it clear they don’t have the NIL money to really help them, so in this age of college basketball, it’s going to be very hard for them to compete. Last year Florida A&M finished 7-22 and there aren’t a whole lot of players back from that team. Dimingus Stevens is back and last season he averaged 8.4 points per game. K’jei Parker is only a freshman but he’s going to have a huge impact on this team. There will be some growing pains here, with him, but he could really surprise a lot of people with his play.
Shane’s Free Pick
Creighton is going to find a ton of success here. This Florida A&M defense just doesn’t have the talent to slowdown Creighton. Look for Creighton to run up the score and they are going to get close to 100 points here. Florida A&M isn’t going to keep this game close, and this game is going to be a blowout early. Back Crieghton to win this game and they are going to cover the spread also.
