The New Hampshire Wildcats and Syracuse Orange face off on Monday in a college basketball showdown at the JMA Wireless Dome.
How Will New Hampshire Do With Nathan Davis?
Nathan Davis is the man in charge in New Hampshire and the hope is that he can get this team to their first NCAA Tournament. Last year this team finished third in the conference a big reason was the defense. Clarence Davis is going to be the biggest key for this team after averaging 15.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. Christian Moore is averaging 5.0 points per game and he is an elite shooter. If he wants to keep this game close, Moore is going to need to need to have a huge game.
New Era for Syracuse Basketball
Gone is Jim Boeheim who was in charge of Syracuse basketball for the last 47 years. Now in charge will be Adrian Autrey who was a star at Syracuse and has been an assistant for the past 12 seasons. One big change for Syraucse is they will be going away from the 2-3 zone and doing more man to man. They will still use the 2-3 zone at times, but expect it to be very limited. Judah Mintz is back for Syraucse even though many didn’t expect he would be. Last season he averaged 16.3 points while their defense is giving up 4.6 asissts per game. Quadir Copeland is going to also to be an x-factor and he’s going to need to have a big game here.
Shane’s Free Pick
This New Hampshire team is talented and they are going to find success here. The Syracuse team is going to go through some growing pains, and I don’t actually think this team is that talented. Look for New Hampshire to get a big game from Davis and that is going to be the difference as they are going to keep this game close. Back New Hampshire to keep the game close and cover the spread.
