The Dartmouth Big Green and Duke Blue Devils face off on Monday in their first college basketball game of the season at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Can Dartmouth make the Conference Tournament this Season?

Dartmouth the last two season have finished one win away from making the Ivy League tournament the last two seasons and that is the goal for thiis team this season. Last season Dartmouth finished with a 10-18 record and they returned three of the five starters back. Dartmouth did lose a couple of key players from that squad. Gone is Dane Adelekun who averaged 13.8 points and 2.0 blocks per game last season. Ryan Cornish is back though after averaging 12.5 points per game last season, and he’s going to need to have a big game here if Dartmouth is going to want any shot at the victory.

Is This The Year for Duke?

Duke was bounced in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, but they hope this is the year that they can get back to being a National Title contender. One of the key players is going to be Kyle Filipowski who had a monster freshman year averaging 15.1 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. He could have went to the NBA but decided to come back for another year at Duke. He should be a big mismatch in this game, and he’s going to need to be an x-factor if Duke is going to want to cover the spread here. Jaylen Blakes is expected to come off the bench, but he’s going to need to have a big season if Duke wants to win another title.

Dartmouth doesn’t have anyone that is going to be able to match up with Filipowski and that is going to be the difference here. Look for Duke to have no issue running up the score and Dartmouth won’t be keeping up. Duke is going to get close to 100 points, and Dartmouth should struggle to get even 60. This is going to be a blowout victory with Duke covering the spread.
