Oral Roberts Betting Preview
Oral Roberts improved to 30-4 after beating North Dakota State in the Summit League Championship. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a massive halftime lead, and ended up beating the Bison by thirty-four, 92-58. ORU scores 84.2 points per game, while allowing 69.9 ppg, and shooting 47.9% from the field.
Oral Roberts completed a dominant season in Summit League play, and they’ll look to join the likes of Lehigh and Mercer as mid-majors who’ve left a stain on Duke’s record. The Golden Eagles have one of the most potent offenses in the country, and they’re led by the best player in school history in Max Abmas. The senior guard posted a 26-point double-double in the win over NDSU, and he led the conference in scoring at 22.2 ppg. Former Cal big Connor Vanover recorded a pair of double-doubles at the conference tournament, and he’s averaging 12.9 ppg and a team-lead 7.2 rpg.
Duke Betting Preview
Duke improved to 26-8 after defeating Virginia in the ACC Championship. The Blue Devils led the Cavs at the break, and held on to raise the ACC crown, 59-49. Duke is scoring 72.5 points per game, while allowing 63.9 ppg, and shooting 45.1% from the floor.
Duke struck sweet revenge for the second time this season by taking down Virginia in the ACC title game, and they’ll look to start the gauntlet of the East region on a positive note here. Freshman forward Kyle Filipowski has scored 20 points in three of the last four games, and he leads Duke in scoring (15.4) and rebounding (9.0). Junior guard Jeremy Roach came up huge again with a 23-point performance against UVA, and he’s up to 13.3 ppg and a team-lead 3.1 apg. Duke’s freshman class has grown right before our eyes, with Tyrese Proctor (9.2 ppg, 3.2 apg) double-doubling in the quarterfinal win over Pitt alongside Roach in the backcourt, and Mark Mitchell and Dereck Lively II beefing up the front line with Flip.
Oral Roberts vs Duke Trends
Oral Roberts is 13-16-1 against the spread this season, with a 13-17 over/under record. Duke is 15-19 ATS this year, with a 13-20-1 o/u record. ORU is 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Under is 6-2 in the Blue Devils last 8 neutral site games.
Corey's Free Pick
If you’re a Duke fan, the visuals of CJ McCollum and Lehigh upsetting the Austin Rivers-led squad, and the painful sight of Mercer dancing after putting the Jabari Parker-led group out should have you on high alert here. I believe in the momentum Jon Scheyer has built with this young group, and I like leaning on their defensive prowess in this matchup. Oral Roberts plays fast, and they will try to run the Blue Devils off of the court, but I like the favorites controlling the flow of this contest, and that should reflect on the scoreboard. Take the under for the ORU/Duke matchup.
