The Arizona Wildcats and the UCLA Bruins will meet in Las Vegas to face off in the Pac-12 Championship at the T-Mobile Center on ESPN
Arizona improved to 27-6 after defeating Arizona State in the semifinals. The Wildcats outplayed the Sun Devils from the first tip, and beat them by nineteen, 78-59. Arizona is scoring 83.5 points per game, while allowing 65.7 ppg, and shooting 49.7% from the floor.
Arizona avenged the costly late-season defeat to Arizona State, and they’ll now look to avenge a loss in their season finale to UCLA. The Wildcats have simply been able to overwhelm teams with size again this season. Junior forward Azuolas Tubelis recorded a 24-point double-double against the Bruins in the finale, and he leads Arizona in scoring (19.9) and rebounding (9.1). Junior center Oumar Ballo forms an intimidating front line alongside him, and after scoring a game-high 24 points in the quarterfinal win over Stanford, he’s up to 14.2 ppg and 8.5 rpg.
UCLA improved to 29-4 after defeating Oregon in the semifinals. The Bruins pulled away after the break, and beat the Ducks by nineteen, 75-56. UCLA is scoring 74.2 points per game, while allowing 60.1 ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the field.
UCLA has won twelve straight games, and they’ll look to secure a number-one seed in the Big Dance with a win here. Veteran swingman Jaime Jacquez Jr. posted a 22-point double-double in the season finale win over Arizona, and he leads UCLA in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (8.1). Senior point guard Tyler Campbell led the way with 28 points in the win over Oregon, and he leads the Bruins in assists (4.8), while scoring 13.1 ppg. Freshman guard Amari Bailey went off for 26 points in the quarterfinal win over Colorado, and he’s up to 10.2 ppg.
Arizona is 14-16-1 against the spread this season, with a 20-10-1 over/under record. UCLA is 18-12-1 ATS this year, with a 17-14 o/u record.
UCLA’s ascension back to the top of Pac-12 just as their set to exit is bittersweet. The Bruins have put it all together this season, and after coming very close last year, I think they pull it off this go round. Arizona’s size is going to keep them in this game, but UCLA is scorching right now, and I like trusting their momentum here. Take UCLA’s spread for the Pac-12 Championship, and give the under a look with this set to be the third game in three days for both schools.
