The UCLA Bruins and the Oregon Ducks will meet in Las Vegas to face off in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Tournament at the T-Mobile Center.
Oregon moved to 19-13 after beating Washington State in quarterfinals. The Ducks used a late 7-0 run to come back and beat the Cougars by five, 75-70. Oregon is scoring 71.0 points per game, while allowing 66.7 ppg, and shooting 45.3% from the field.
Oregon has been marred by inconsistency this season, but they’ve managed to win their last four games, and they’ll look to pull off a huge upset here. Senior big N’Faly Dante recorded a 16-point double-double in the win over Wazzu, and he leads Oregon in scoring (13.5) and (8.2). Senior guard Jermaine Couisnard chipped in 17 points, and he’s second on the team at 13.2 ppg. Four-year starter Will Richardson is averaging 12.2 ppg and a team-lead 5.2 apg.
UCLA improved to 28-4 after defeating Colorado in the quarterfinals. The Bruins trailed at the break, but they’d used a strong second half to beat the Buffs by eleven, 80-69. UCLA is scoring 74.2 points per game, while allowing 60.1 ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the field.
UCLA has won eleven straight games, and they’ll look to defeat Oregon for the third time this season. Senior swingman Jaime Jacquez Jr. turned things up in February, and after scoring 20 points or more in seven of the ten seven games, he leads UCLA in scoring (17.5) and rebounding (8.0). Veteran point guard Tyler Campbell scored 21 points in the season finale win over Arizona, and he leads the Bruins in assists (4.7), while scoring 12.9 ppg. Freshman guard Amari Bailey went off for 26 points in the first round win over Colorado, and he’s up to 9.6 ppg.
Oregon is 14-16-1 against the spread this season, with a 17-14 over/under record. UCLA is 18-12-1 ATS this year, with a 15-16 o/u record.
UCLA is the real deal, and Oregon’s not going to pick up one of those pesky upsets here. The Bruins are primed to land a one seed in the Big Dance, and I think they come out sharp and dispatch the Ducks here. The margin is manageable, so take UCLA’s spread for this Pac-12 Semifinal.
