The Howard Bison and the Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks will meet in Norfolk to face off in the semifinals of the MEAC Tournament from the Scope Arena on ESPN+.
MD-Eastern Shore moved 18-12 after defeating Morgan State in the quarterfinals. The Hawks jumped out to a double digit halftime lead, and poured it on to beat the Bears by sixteen. UMES is scoring 70.4 points per game, while allowing 66.3 ppg, and shooting 43.7% from the field.
UMES has won three of their last four games, and they’ll look to sneak into the conference title game here. Senior guard Kevin Voyles scored 22 points in the season finale win over DSU, and he leads the Hawks in scoring (13.2). Senior Zion Styles led the team with 19 points in the quarterfinal win over MSU, and he’s up to 11.8 ppg. Senior forward Nate Pollard Jr. leads the team in rebounding (8.2), while scoring 9.9 ppg.
Howard moved to 20-12 after defeating South Carolina State in the quarterfinals. The Bison blitzed the Bulldogs in both halves by nearly twenty en route to a massive victory, 91-55. Howard is scoring 74.9 points per game, while allowing 73.2 ppg, and shooting 46.5% from the floor.
Howard chose an interesting time to pick up their largest win of the season, and after winning twelve of their last fourteen games, they have a good chance to become outright MEAC champions. Howard plays collectively, and they’re led by Elijah Hawkins. The sophomore guard scored 15 points or more in six of the last nine games, and he’s posting team leads in scoring (13.4) and assists (5.9). Junior forward Steve Settle III he leads the team in rebounding at 6.1 rpg, while scoring 11.4 ppg.
UMES is 15-8-1 against the spread this season, with a 10-14-1 over/under record. Howard is 15-13 ATS this year, with a 15-13 o/u record.
