The Kansas Jayhawks and Iowa State Cyclones face off on Friday in the Semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament in a college basketball showdown at the T-Mobile Center. When these two teams faced off on February 4th it was Iowa State that secured 68-53.

Kansas is dealing with some issues heading into this game. Head coach Bill Self didn’t coach because of illness and Kevin McCullar is dealing with back spasms. McCullar didn’t start on Thursday but he was still able to play. Kansas is averaging 75.6 points while their defense is giving up 68.2 points per game. Jalen Wilson is averaging 19.7 points while shooting 41.6 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from behind the three point line.

On the other side of this matchup is Iowa State who sits with a 19-12 record overall and they are coming off an upset win on Thursday. Iowa State’s offense managed 78 points and ended up winning by six points. Gabe Kalscheur had a strong game finishing with 24 points and four rebounds. There were four different players that finished with at least 10 points. Iowa State is averaging 68.8 points while their defense is giving up 62.5 points per game. In this game it’s going to need to be the defense that steps up. Jaren Holmes is averaging 13.2 points while shooting 39.2 percent from the field.

Kansas looked really good against West Virginia, and if Wilson continues to play like he did, this is a team that can win the title. I expect Wilson is going to have another big game, and Iowa State isn’t going to keep up. Kalscheur isn’t going to play as well here, and that will be the difference here as Kansas is going to get the job done. Back the Jayhawks against the spread.
