Colorado State moved to 15-17 following a home win over Fresno State. The Rams led the Bulldogs at the break, and they held on to advance by two points, 67-65. Colorado State is scoring 73.3 points per game, while allowing 71.7 ppg, and shooting 49.4% from the floor.
Colorado State beat Fresno State for the third time this season, but they will certainly have a tall task here. Senior guard Isaiah Stevens dished out 13 assists in the home finale win over UNM, and he leads the Rams in scoring (17.9) and assists (6.8). Fellow veteran guard John Tonje led the team with 20 points in the first round win over Fresno, and he’s averaging 14.3 ppg and 4.8 rpg.
San Diego State moved to 21-5 following a road win over Fresno State. The Aztecs and Bulldogs brawled in what should go down as the lowest scoring game of the season, and SDSU would sneak out of the valley with a two-point win, 45-43. SDSU is scoring 73.5 points per game, while allowing 65.8 ppg, and shooting 45.3% from the floor.
San Diego State avenged a loss to Boise by pounding Wyoming in the regular season finale, and they’ll look to become outright champions of the Mountain West once again. The Aztecs play a collective brand of basketball, and thrive on both sides of the ball. Veteran guard Matt Bradley has reach double figures in nine of the last ten games, and he leads SDSU in scoring (13.0). Senior forward Jaedon Ledee scored a season-high 21 points in the season finale win over Wyoming, and he’s up to 8.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg. The Aztecs get notable contributions from seven more players, and they’re truly one of the deepest teams in the country.
Colorado State is 12-18 against the spread this season, with a 18-11-1 over/under record. San Diego State is 13-14-2 ATS this year, with a 14-15 o/u record.
San Diego State has been sharp this season, and while they aren’t matchup proof, this is a contest they should win. The Aztecs roughed the Rams up a few weeks ago at home, and with CSU coming off of a slugfest with Fresno, they might come out flat here. SDSU should advance comfortably here, so take their spread for this MWC Quarterfinal.
