The Arizona State Sun Devils will stay in Los Angeles to face the USC Trojans in Pac-12 play USC leads the all-time series, 61-42, after winning the last six meetings.
Arizona State fell to 20-10 after losing to UCLA in Los Angeles. The Sun Devils stuck with the Bruins early, but they’d fall apart in the second half and lose by eighteen, 79-61. ASU scores 71.4 points per game, while allowing 66.6 ppg, and shooting 42.2% from the floor.
Arizona State has a compelling case for an at-large bid, and a strong effort here versus USC will only boost that. The Sun Devils are 11-8 in Pac-12 play, with a 7-5 road record. Fifth-year guard Desmond Cambridge Jr. added to his college legend with the game-winning shot over the Wildcats, and he leads ASU in scoring (13.7). Junior guard DJ Horne has picked things up down the stretch, scoring 15 points or more in four of the last seven games, and he’s up to 11.8 ppg. Senior forward Warren Washington leads the team in rebounding (6.6), while scoring 9.3 ppg.
Southern Cal fell to 21-9 after falling to Arizona at home. The Trojans trailed the Wildcats at the break and ended up losing by six, 87-81. USC is scoring 72.7 points per game, while allowing 67.0 ppg, and shooting 45.8% from the field.
USC’s loss to Arizona brings some added pressure to the home finale, and they’ll look to remain on the right side of the bubble here. The Trojans are 11-5 in Pac-12 play, with a 3-5 road record. Veteran guard Boogie Ellis has put it all together this season, and after going for a season-high 35 points in the win over Stanford, he’s leading SC in scoring (17.8). Fellow veteran Drew Peterson remains one of the most versatile players in the country, and after dropping a season-high 30 points on Cal last week, he’s up to 14.3 ppg, and team-leads of 6.3 rpg and 4.5 apg.
Arizona State is 15-14 against the spread this season, with a 17-12 over/under record. USC is 17-12 ATS this year, with a 15-14 o/u record.
USC has been pretty sharp in LAthis season, and after falling to Arizona, I think they will bounce back in their home finale. Boogie Ellis has turned into a star right before our eyes, and there’s a good chance this hot stretch of play continues for him. The margin is manageable, so roll with USC to cover in this Pac-12 matchup.
