The Cleveland State Vikings will host the Robert Morris Colonials in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League Championship from the Wolstein Center on ESPN+. Cleveland State leads the head-to-head series, 13-7, after winning seven straight meetings.
Robert Morris moved to 16-16 after beating IUPUI in the first round of the Horizon League Championship. The Colonials held off a second half rally from the Jags to win by three, 67-64. RMU scores 69.4 points per game, while allowing 66.1 ppg, and shooting 44.6% from the floor.
Robert Morris has won five of their last six games, and they’d love a two-point loss to the Vikings three weeks ago. Sophomore guard Enoch Cheeks finished as the team’s leading scorer (15.9), after scoring 15.8 points or more in six of eight games in February. Senior forward Kahliel has complimented him well from the inside, and after posting three double-doubles in the last four games, he leads the Colonials in rebounding (8.3), while scoring 15.8 ppg.
Cleveland State closed the regular season at 19-12 following a road loss to Milwaukee. The Vikings let the Panthers pull away in the second half to beat the Panthers by nine, 81-72. Cleveland State is scoring 70.8 points per game, while allowing 67.6 ppg and shooting 45.4% from the field.
Cleveland State won five straight prior to dropping their season finale, and they’ll look to pick up their second victory in three weeks. Junior swingman Tristan Enaruna posted a 24-point double-double against Milwaukee last time out, and he’s averaging team leads in scoring (15.1) and rebounding (6.6). Junior forward Tae Williams went off in Wisconsin, posting massive double-doubles against Green Bay and Milwaukee, and he’s up to 11.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg.
Robert Morris is 17-12-1 against the spread this season, with a 11-19 over/under record. Cleveland State is 14-15 ATS this year, with a 16-13 o/u record.
Robert Morris snuck by lowly IUPUI, and I don’t think they’ll get so lucky this time around. Cleveland State has perennially marked one of the top teams in the conference, and there’s a good chance they beat the Colonials for the eighth straight time. Trust the pedigree of Cleveland State here, and take their spread Thursday.
