The Boston College Eagles will head down to Winston-Salem to meet the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in ACC play from LJVM Coliseum on ESPNU. Boston College holds a slim series lead of 16-14, but Wake did win the last meeting back in January by twenty-two points.
Boston College moved to 14-15 after defeating Virginia at home. The Eagles capitalized on a poor shooting night from the Cavs, and beat them by 15 points, 63-48. BC is scoring 66.2 points per game, while allowing 69.9 ppg, and shooting 43.3% from the field.
Boston College picked up another sneaky conference victory, and played the ultimate spoiler role, as this one may have put a wrench in the Wahoos title hopes. BC is 8-10 in ACC play, with a 9-6 home record. A huge reason behind the change of course for BC is due to the play of senior Quinten Post. The 7’0 big has been able to control games from the inside, and after scoring 20 points or more in three of the last five games, he leads BC in scoring (15.9) and rebounding (6.1). Veteran guard Makai Ashton-Langford remains effective for the Eagles, and after flirting with a triple-double in the win over VT, he’s up to 12.2 ppg and 3.4 rpg.
Wake Forest moved to 18-11 following a home win over Notre Dame. The Demon Deacons pulled away from the Fighting Irish in the second half to pick up the eight-point victory, 66-58. Wake is scoring 77.5 points per game, while allowing 73.9 ppg, and shooting 46.5% from the floor.
Wake Forest got back into the win column at the right time with the win over Boston College, and they’ll look to double up at home here before closing the season at Syracuse. Wake is 10-8 in ACC play, with a 13-2 home record. Tyree Appleby has been on a tear down the stretch, and after scoring 21 points against Duke, he now averages team-leads of 18.6 ppg and 6.2 apg. Second-year guard Cameron Hildereth scored 20 points in the last meeting with BC, and he’s averaging 12.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg. Junior forward Andrew Carr leads Wake in rebounding (5.9), while scoring 11.4 ppg.
BC is 12-16 against the spread this season, with a 17-11 over/under record. Wake is 15-12 ATS this year, with a 18-8-1 o/u record.
Wake Forest still has something to play for at this point in the season, as a win here in their home finale could keep their season alive. Boston College put up a strong effort last time out, but even after beating a cold UVA team, they will have their hands full with a strong Demon Deacon lineup. Roll with Wake Forest to cover in this ACC contest.
