The Northern Colorado Bears will host the Idaho State Bengals in Big Sky action from on ESPN+.
Idaho State moved to 11-19 after defeating Eastern Washington at home. The Bengals led at the break, and they held on to beat the Eagles by eight, 71-63. Idaho State is scoring 68.9 points per game, while allowing 70.1 ppg, and shooting 44.3% from the floor.
Idaho State just picked up two big home wins over Idaho and conference leader Eastern Washington, and they’ll look to close the season with a third straight victory. The Bengals are 8-9 in Big Sky play, with a 7-7 road record. Senior guard Brock Mackenzie went for a game-high 28 points in the win over EWU, and he leads the team in scoring (13.2). Junior forward Brayden Parker leads the team in boards (4.6), while scoring 11.7 ppg.
Northern Colorado fell to 10-19 after losing to Northern Arizona at home. The Bears traded leads with the Lumberjacks in a shootout, but they’d end up losing by three, 85-82. Northern Colorado is scoring 72.8 points per game, while allowing 77.4 ppg, and shooting 44.6% from the field.
Northern Colorado has dropped their last three games, and they’ll look to avoid being swept by Idaho State for the season here Monday night. The Bears are 5-12 in Big Sky play, with a 5-7 home record. UNCO is led by the most fitting duo in Dalton Knecht and Daylen Kountz. Knecht has come into his own down the stretch, scoring 22 points or more in each of the last three games to bring his team-leads to 20.1 ppg and 7.3 rpg. Kountz dropped a game-high 26 points in his last trip to Idaho, and he’s second on the team at 16.6 ppg.
Idaho State is 14-14 against the spread this season, with a 16-12 over/under record. Northern Colorado is 11-17 ATS this year, with a 13-15 o/u record.
Idaho State may have the better conference track record, but it’s not to love the DK gunners of Northern Colorado here in their final college home game. Dalton Knecht and Daylen Kountz are both due for big performances, and I think it will provide enough for them to get back into the win column before their season closes.
